It's often frustrating seeing preliminary details from authorities after a crash. They tend to raise more questions than they answer. What's often a shock to people, though, is how often authorities leave things like that and move on. Sometimes, they just let crashes slip through the cracks, and the people involved are left out in the wind looking for their own answers.
I recall a crash a while back, for example, where two drivers were each blaming the other for running a light. The officer wrote it off is one person's word versus the other's, and they just needed to sort it out. Well, one of the people asked us to look into things, and it didn't take long to find a nearby security camera that caught the whole thing on video, clearly showing the other guy ran the light.
Even seemingly obvious details can go unnoticed if investigators aren't actively trying to consider all the facts. Maybe authorities here were a lot more thorough behind the scenes, and their public statement is a fraction of the more complete investigations. If the people involved here never got clear answers, though, it wouldn't be the first time.
