Matthew Amodio Killed in Alleged Hit-and-run Accident in Midland, TX
Midland, TX — March 15, 2025, Matthew Amodio was killed due to an alleged hit-and-run accident that happened around 10:30 p.m. on Business I-20.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened in the area of the Business I-20 and County Road 1246 intersection.

According to officials, 24-year-old Matthew Bryan Amodio was on a Suzuki motorcycle going westbound on BI-20. While doing so, authorities say that a Ford pickup failed to yield. As a result, the pickup and Amodio's motorcycle collided. The motorcycle was then hit by another car.
As a result of the collision, Amodio was killed. No other injuries were reported. Authorities allege that the Ford driver fled the scene, but reports say the suspect driver was arrested the following day. That driver is said to be facing charges for accident involving death as well as for previous warrants.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If the allegations here are true, then it's at least encouraging to see a suspect runaway driver arrested and getting their day in front of a judge. That said, there could still be more to the story. It's important authorities take the time to find out why the accident happened in the first place.
For example, it could be something as simple as distracted driving, but even that might require court orders for things like cellphone records. Or, this may have been a late-night drunk driving accident that involved a local bar unlawfully over-serving the hit-and-run driver. That might require holding the runaway driver and a negligent alcohol provider accountable for their role in the accident.
At the end of the day, a family lost their loved one here. It's not enough to just point the finger at a "bad guy" and call it a day. The family deserves to know they're getting the whole story and that all wrongs leading to the accident are set right.
