Teen Injured in Motorcycle Accident on 14th St. in Wichita Falls, TX
Wichita County, TX — August 17, 2025, a teenage man was injured due to a motorcycle accident shortly before 4:15 a.m. along 14th Street.
According to authorities, a 19-year-old man was traveling on a southwest bound KTM motorcycle on 14th Street near the Grace Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a tree. The teen reportedly suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a young rider is seriously hurt in a single-motorcycle crash, it’s easy for the first reports to boil the event down to “lost control.” But those words don’t explain much. To really understand what happened, investigators need to ask the questions that aren’t obvious from the scene.
1. Did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash?
A KTM striking a tree at 4 a.m. raises immediate questions. Did investigators map the motorcycle’s exact path and check for signs of braking or swerving? Did they analyze whether the rider attempted evasive action before impact? In late-night crashes, with no witnesses around, the quality of the scene investigation often determines how much is ever truly known. If the response was limited to clearing the wreck, then important evidence may have already disappeared.
2. Has anyone looked into the possibility that a vehicle defect caused the crash?
Motorcycles are sensitive machines—any small malfunction can make control difficult or impossible. A tire blowout, brake imbalance, or throttle issue could easily have forced the KTM off course. These failures usually don’t leave obvious clues at the roadside. Unless the motorcycle is carefully inspected by someone looking specifically for defects, mechanical causes may be missed and the crash written off unfairly as rider error.
3. Has all the electronic data relating to the crash been collected?
Many modern motorcycles, including KTMs, have onboard systems capable of logging ride data—speed, throttle position, and braking inputs. A phone or GPS device may also carry location and movement information, which can fill in the timeline. Even nearby security or traffic cameras could hold critical footage. But all of this evidence is time-sensitive. If no one has secured it yet, those insights could be lost forever.
A motorcycle striking a tree may look like a simple loss of control, but that’s only the starting point. The real answers depend on whether anyone is willing to look past the surface and dig into what might not be obvious.
Takeaways:
- A thorough reconstruction is essential in single-bike crashes without witnesses.
- Small mechanical defects can have major consequences and should be checked.
- Electronic and camera data may be the best way to understand the crash fully.
