Trucker Killed in NC DOT Truck Accident on U.S. 264 in Nash County, NC
Nash County, NC — October 3, 2023, a truck driver was killed following an NC DOT truck accident at around 1:00 p.m. on U.S. 264.
Investigators said in preliminary statements that the crash happened in the area of U.S. 264 and Oak Avenue near Exit 11.

According to officials, a driver in a fuel tanker was going along the highway in the right lane. While doing so, it appears a North Carolina Department of Transportation truck attempted to merge from the median into the left lane, then into the right lane. Authorities say this led to the tanker truck veering toward the median where it crashed.
The driver of the tanker was ejected from the truck and sustained fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported. It's unclear at this time if any charges are pending. No further information is available at this time.
