Nichole J. Smith Killed in Truck Accident in Smyth County, VA
Smyth County, VA — November 21, 2023, Nichole J. Smith was killed in a truck accident at around 6:00 in the evening along Interstate 81.
According to authorities, 42-year-old Nichole J. Smith was traveling in a southbound 18-wheeler on Interstate 81 near the Fox Valley Road exit when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler veered off of the road and partially into the median where it collided with a guardrail and overturned as a result. Despite the fact that Nichole Smith was allegedly wearing a seatbelt, she was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. A second 18-wheeler was unable to avoid a collision with a portion of the disabled vehicle. It then veered off of the road and into the median as well, reportedly colliding with Smith in the process. Smith was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
The causal factors of the accident are unknown; it is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the accident were not reported on. No additional information is currently available pertaining to this incident.
