One Killed, Five Injured in Truck Accident on I-5 in Encinitas, CA
Encinitas, CA — April 10, 2023, one person was killed and five others were injured in a semi-truck accident around 10:45 a.m. on I-5 in Encinitas.
According to authorities, all vehicles were headed in the same direction on the highway prior to the crash. Reports indicate a Chrysler Pacifica minivan collided with a Honda Civic. That impact reportedly sent both vehicles into the path of the semi-truck. When the semi-truck struck bother vehicles the minivan purportedly overturned into the path of a Ford Explorer.
A front-seat passenger in the Chrysler Pacifica minivan suffered fatal injuries. The minivan driver and an infant occupant were transported to a hospital with purportedly non-life-threatening injuries. Officials also said three children in the Honda Civic were also taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Reports indicate authorities have not determined the cause of the crash, but authorities have released they do not believe drug or alcohol use to have been a factor.
