Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Pedestrian accidents often bring up all kinds of rushed conclusions and misconceptions. People put a lot of focus on just whether or not the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. That's perfectly understandable, but there could be other factors to consider. Was there some kind of emergency? A medical condition? Was alcohol a factor? Is this area in need of improvements, such as increased lighting or signage? At the end of the day, someone lost their life. That at least warrants considering the full picture rather than jumping to conclusions.
