Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Commercial truck wrecks can be a lot more complex than folks may realize. There are already serious possible factors that come with any deadly crash. What were road conditions like? Did the driver experience a medical emergency? Did a tire blow out? But beyond that, there are challenges unique to commercial driving to consider, as well. Was the driver being forced to work long hours? Was their employer failing to keep up with regular truck maintenance? Did they have the driver hauling overweight or improperly loaded cargo? Was the driver put on the road without proper training?
These aren't the kinds of things typical police investigations look into on their own. They may have been thorough here, and perhaps the victim's loved ones are confident they're getting the full story. But if they've been left with doubts or unanswered questions, it might be because investigations weren't thorough enough to consider some of these unique, complex possible factors.
