Something I've talked about for years is how 18-wheeler rollovers don't get the attention they deserve. While I can't say what exactly happened here, there are a lot of crashes like this one which ended up being far more severe than they should have been due to poor manufacturing practices. Let me explain.
Put simply, it's a known issue in the industry that some truck manufacturers ignore best practices when it comes to the structural integrity of the driver's cabin. As a result, some trucks will completely crumble during a rollover while others are able to withstand damage (up to a point) and help protect truck drivers. So long as these manufacturers can get away with that, some truckers will end up seriously hurt or killed when they shouldn't be.
Like I said, it's not confirmed what all happened here. But if this crash is like many similar ones I've seen, it might need a secondary independent investigation to make sure the truck gets a proper inspection.
