Ronald Lee Rice Jr. Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Midland, TX
Midland, TX — July 27, 2024, Ronald Lee Rice Jr. was killed as the result of a motorcycle accident at around 1:30 a.m. along Highway 191.
According to initial statements from Midland Police Department officials, the accident happened along the 11120 block of TX-191, near Highway 349.

Investigators said that 56-year-old Ronald Lee Rice Jr. was on a Harley Davidson going eastbound along the highway. For reasons which aren't clear right now, the motorcycle ran off the side of the road and crashed. As a result, Ronald Rice was killed. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident.
Right now, the exact circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation. I just hope those investigations are being treated more carefully than a lot of the motorcycle accident cases I've had. The unfortunate reality is a lot of people, authorities included, are quick to blame motorcyclists without actually knowing all of the facts. Just like with accidents involving typical cars, there needs to be consideration for extenuating circumstances. Was there a mechanical defect involved? Did a tire blowout? Was someone illegally over-served by a bar? Did another driver cause the accident and flee the scene? Did the victim suffer a medical emergency? Likely or not, the evidence needs to be allowed to speak for itself. A victim's loved ones at least deserve to know they're getting the full story.
