It's important to keep in mind that school bus accidents are not just big car accidents. There are a lot of unique challenges to consider. This can include things like looking into driver history, hiring and training processes, securing video footage, and jumping through hoops that are put up by local laws regarding crashes involving government vehicles.
That's all on top of the inherent challenges of a crash investigation into the actions of both drivers, pulling their cellphone records, and other typical hurdles. In my experience, authorities aren't always prepared to handle all of that additional challenge, but it would be good to hear if authorities here were better-equipped to rise to the occasion than most other departments.
