Sergio Rojas Montoya Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Accident on Wycliff Ave in Dallas, TX
Dallas, TX — January 20, 2023, Sergio Rojas Montoya was killed in a fiery single-vehicle accident around 1:24 a.m. on Wycliff Ave. in the Design District of Dallas.
Authorities report the victim's Dodge Charger was traveling north on Wycliff Ave. (just north of Irving Blvd.) when his vehicle somehow veered off the road toward the passenger side. The Charger then purportedly collided with a wooden utility pole, entered into a clockwise spin, struck two small trees/bushes, drove onto the grass in front of 1300 Wycliff Ave., and collided with the front of the building.
Mr. Rojas Montoya was purportedly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators say they completed a 3D scan of the crash site, but they have not released what factors led up to the accident.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I've done this far too long not to take early reports with a grain or two of salt. Folks are sometimes a little too quick to conclude that a single-vehicle accident was the driver's fault somehow, but I've lost count of the times there was more to the story that went overlooked in the rush to point fingers.
For example, people might use this accident's few available details, such as the time of the incident, to put together their own theories about what happened. And little as I like saying it, I suspect many of those theories wouldn't be charitable toward the victim. However, it's important to realize that right now nobody can say what really happened on Wycliff Avenue, and jumping to conclusions is likely to do far more harm than good.
That's why it's important to investigate carefully and thoroughly and ensure facts and evidence, not assumptions, tell the story. The people who lost a loved one in Dallas deserve no less, so I hope authorities will ensure they get some real answers.
