Henrico, VA — September 4, 2025, a sign spinner was killed and another was injured after a chain-reaction truck accident at 11:45 a.m. on Williamsburg Road.

Current statements on the crash say it happened at the intersection of Williamsburg Road and South Laburnum Avenue.

According to officials, an initial crash occurred between a tractor-trailer and a straight truck. This led to the 18-wheeler jackknifing and going off-road. There, the tractor-trailer struck a pedestrian who was sign-spinning for a nearby business. Multiple other vehicles then crashed in a chain-reaction accident.

Due to the accident, the pedestrian was killed. One of the drivers involved in the accident was reportedly taken from the scene with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.

So soon after a crash, the main priority for investigators should be preserving any evidence that may be time-sensitive. This can include analyzing debris and markings on the road, pulling cellphone records, and inspecting the trucks involved in the initial crash before any repairs are made.

One important factor that often goes overlooked, though, is possible video evidence of the crash. This happened at an intersection with nearby businesses. Have authorities canvassed those businesses for security cameras that may have had a view of the accident? That may seem like an obvious detail to consider, but it would surprise folks how often I've had cases where authorities never bothered looking for any nearby cameras.

Video evidence typically gets deleted or overwritten regularly, so the sooner investigators secure any possible video evidence, the better.
