Man Injured in Single-car Accident on I.H. 45 in Houston, TX
Harris County, TX — March 28, 2025, a man was injured due to a single-car accident shortly after 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 45.
According to authorities, a man was traveling in a southbound Toyota Camry on I.H. 45 at Griggs Road when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Camry failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a median barrier. The man reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Single-car crashes on major highways are often summed up as a driver drifting out of their lane, but when someone is left seriously injured, the real question is why that drift happened in the first place.
Did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash?
If the Camry struck the median, investigators should have gone beyond noting the point of impact. Did they measure and map the vehicle’s path, document skid or yaw marks, and check for evidence of evasive maneuvers? Without a full reconstruction, the event can be too quickly written off as “driver error,” even though the real cause may lie elsewhere.
Has anyone looked into the possibility that a vehicle defect caused the crash?
Mechanical or electronic failures can cause a sudden lane departure. A steering malfunction, tire blowout, or problem with the Camry’s stability control system could make the driver lose control without warning. These issues aren’t always visible after the fact, and unless the vehicle was inspected promptly, the opportunity to uncover a defect may already have been lost.
Has all the electronic data relating to the crash been collected?
Most modern Toyotas store critical event data: speed, steering input, brake use, and throttle position in the seconds before a crash. That information, along with phone records or nearby traffic camera footage, could shed light on whether the driver attempted to correct course or if the vehicle itself behaved unexpectedly. But that evidence is time-sensitive—if it isn’t gathered quickly, it may disappear for good.
What looks like a simple barrier strike may actually have a far more complicated story behind it. Only a thorough investigation can reveal whether this was preventable or the result of something beyond the driver’s control.
Takeaways:
- Lane departures require full reconstruction to determine why they occurred, not just where.
- Vehicle defects like steering or stability failures can cause sudden loss of control.
- Event data and camera footage are crucial to understanding the moments before impact.
