Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With authorities recommending charges here, things may seem pretty open-and-shut. But as the saying goes, it's not about what you know; it's about what you can prove. Unfortunately, authorities do not always gather all of the necessary evidence surrounding a crash that victims need when seeking a resolution beyond simple citations or criminal charges.
Authorities have their own priorities, and those don't always align with getting people the help they need. As such, victims and families almost always fare better when they focus on getting evidence through a proper, thorough accident reconstruction that prioritizes getting the facts rather than just looking for someone to blame. Ultimately, the evidence needs to be able to speak for itself, and it may take more than just a typical police investigation to ensure that happens.
