Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
As investigations continue into what happened here, it's important to understand why Texas has the most complex work accident laws of any state in the country. Put simply, there isn't always a guaranteed path for getting workers and their families the benefits they need. That means workers often need as much evidence as possible telling their side of the story to help ensure they can navigate a legal maze. OSHA investigations can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months to complete, so it's often prudent to have independent investigators take steps early on to preserve evidence.
