Minor Killed, 2 Injured in Truck Accident on U.S. 57 in Frio County, TX
Frio County, TX — January 18, 2024, a teenager was killed while two adults were injured in a truck accident at approximately 1:45 p.m. along U.S. Highway 57.
According to reports, a 67 year-old man, a 63-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old girl were traveling in a westbound Chevy Trax SUV on U.S. Highway 57 approaching a left-hand curve in the road some distance northeast of F.M. 140 when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the SUV failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered off of the right side of the road onto the shoulder before swerving back onto the roadway. The vehicle then allegedly lost control, going into a left skid partially entering the oncoming lane of traffic. A westbound 18-wheeler struck the back left of the SUV, authorities state. The 15-year-old girl who had been in the back seat of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle during the accident. The SUV came to a rest on the north shoulder facing southwest, while the 18-wheeler traveled completely off of the north side of the road, coming to a stop after colliding with a fence.
The teenage girl incurred reportedly fatal injuries due to the crash and was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. The man and woman who had also been in the SUV sustained suspected severe injuries and were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
