Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A lot of people think commercial truck wrecks are little more than big car accidents. That's just not true. The damage and chaos at the scene can present far more significant hurdles for investigators. Also, the factors contributing to them can require more serious tools and experience to investigate than what a typical accident reconstruction might offer. As such, it's important to make sure the crash has been looked at by experienced accident reconstructionists. If officers can't show that they looked beyond the surface level details, then it may be a sign that independent investigators should step in before crucial evidence is lost or damaged.
