Driver Killed, 2 Injured in Truck, Train Accident on Nelson Lane in Fort Bend County, TX
Fort Bend County, TX — May 21, 2025, a driver was killed and two were injured after a truck versus train accident that happened around 6:45 a.m. off FM 2759.
Authorities say that the crash happened in the Richmond area, east of FM 762 at the railroad crossing on Nelson Lane.

Details from officials say that the dump truck involved was going northbound on Nelson Lane approaching the tracks. In a series of events unclear, a train crashed into the dump as it was on the tracks. Due to this, the truck driver was killed. Two people on the train reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.
According to current information, the crossing does not have signals or crossing arms, no stop sign, and is "dimly lit." The incident remains under investigation.

While there could be any number of reasons this collision happened, railroad crossing improvements is a subject that sometimes gets overlooked. It's possible there's no need to make any improvements at this particular crossing, but someone lost their life here. That at the very least warrants consideration into whether this is a hazardous crossing and whether there need to be improvements to help ensure other drivers and railroad workers aren't harmed in the future.
