Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to assume train accidents are open-and-shut. After all, there's really only one direction the train is going. But it's still important to let the evidence speak for itself. Perhaps there is a lack of signage at the crossing. Maybe crossing guards weren't working. The truck may have broken down, and the train failed to adhere to warnings of something up ahead blocking the tracks. Right now, there's simply not enough information about the crash to say what exactly went wrong, so it's best to avoid jumping to conclusions until there have been proper investigations.
