Valerie Johnson, 2 Injured in Hit-and-run Accident in Houston, TX
Houston, TX — August 17, 2024, Valerie Johnson and two others were injured after an alleged hit-and-run accident at 9:36 p.m. along Orem Drive.
Initial details about the accident said that it took place in the area of East Orem Drive and Foxton Road.

According to officials, 40-year-old Valerie Johnson was in a Toyota Venza traveling eastbound on Orem. A Chevy Colorado driven by a 17-year-old was also going eastbound. The two vehicles were reportedly crossing Foxton at the time when a southbound vehicle apparently pulled through the stop sign, crossed onto eastbound lanes, and crashed with both other vehicles.
Due to the collision, Valerie Johnson was seriously injured. Two teens in the Chevy had reportedly moderate injuries. Several others involved, including children, may have had minor injuries. The southbound vehicle reportedly left the scene of the accident.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I haven't seen any updates about this accident, so it's not clear if authorities were ever able to identify and arrest the reported runaway driver. Obviously that's important both to see they're held accountable for leaving the scene and for any possible wrongs that led them to flee in the first place, such as warrants, drugs, or drunk driving. If authorities haven't identified that person, keeping details in the public eye would likely be the best path forward. Oftentimes, someone is able to connect the dots and help authorities make an arrest. Even months after the accident, victims and families can see justice done after a hit-and-run.
