Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When accidents like this happen, it's easy to think they're just the result of poor timing or a single miscalculation. However, in my experience, fatal crashes involving large trucks often point to complex underlying issues that need thorough investigation.
A crash occurring as a truck attempts to navigate a curve raises questions about various contributing factors, such as vehicle maintenance, the driver's familiarity with the route, and external road conditions. Investigators will need to examine whether there were issues with the truck’s brakes, tires, or steering that could have affected its stability and response in the curve. Even seemingly minor mechanical issues can have serious consequences, especially for heavy trucks that rely on precision handling when moving through sharp curves at highway speeds.
It’s also crucial to look at the role the trucking company may have played. Companies are responsible for ensuring that their vehicles are in optimal condition and that their drivers are adequately trained and rested. If the investigation reveals that mechanical maintenance or driver readiness wasn’t up to standard, the company could share responsibility for this incident.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the accident. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the accident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
