Justin Lynn, Colten Stewart Killed, Cody Wolfe, Zane Farrar, 1 Injured in Truck Accident in Richland County, IL
Richland County, IL — July 14, 2023, Justin Lynn and Colten Stewart were killed and Cody Wolfe, Zane Farrar, and one other were hurt in a truck accident on U.S. 50.
Preliminary details about the crash say that it happened at approximately 6:50 a.m. along U.S. 50 ion the area of North Cottage Road.
It appears that 22-year-old Justin Lynn and 24-year-old Colten Stewart were in a Chevy pickup that was stopped behind an International truck which was in turn stopped due to construction. While waiting, reports say that a Peterbilt did not slow down in time, crashing into the Chevy and pushing it into the International semi.
As a result of the collision, both Lynn and Stewart were killed. Two people in the International had minor injuries. Authorities identified them as 32-year-old Cody Wolfe and 23-year-old Zane Farrar. The driver of the Peterbilt also had reportedly minor injuries.
Authorities say they charged the Peterbilt driver for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
