Alexis Michelle Maestas Killed in Car Accident on I-45 in Houston, TX
Houston, TX — October 1, 2023, Alexis Michelle Maestas was killed following a car accident at around 4:30 a.m. along the North Freeway.
Authorities said in their statements on the crash that it happened along the side of the interstate service road near the intersection with Esplanade Drive.

According to officials, 24-year-old Alexis Michelle Maestas was in a Ford F-150 going northbound on the service road. For reasons which are unclear right now, the vehicle left its lane, made contact with the curb, then overturned off the side of the road.
Due to the crash, Maestas sustained fatal injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Authorities mentioned no other vehicles being involved in the accident. At this time, additional details about the crash are unavailable.
One would think there would be more information available about a deadly crash this long after it happened, but single-vehicle wrecks rarely get as much attention as multi-vehicle wrecks. The problem, though, is whether that lack of attention is just from the public or if authorities also aren't being thorough.
Single-vehicle wrecks aren't exactly high on the list of priorities authorities have to deal with, and that sometimes means they're told to wrap things up and move on before they actually have all the facts. That can then leave victims' loved ones with all kinds of unanswered questions. That's bad enough on its own, but it's a lot worse when the victim isn't around to tell their side of the story. In other words, if authorities don't take steps to ensure the evidence can speak for itself, someone else has to be able to pick up the slack.
