Ana Paula Carillo, 3 Injured in Car Accident on Gateway East in El Paso, TX
UPDATE (February 14, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what occurred during this accident. According to these reports, Ana Paula Carrillo and another woman—both age 23—were traveling in a west facing Dodge Challenger which was at a stop in the inside of three lanes for a red light on Gateway West. Stopped in the lane next to the Challenger was a Ford F-150 occupied be a 65-year-old man. In front of the pickup truck was a Cadillac occupied by two people.
Officials indicate that a westbound GMC Sierra pickup truck occupied by a 31-year-old man which had allegedly been traveling at a high rate of speed collided with the back of both the Ford pick up truck and the Challenger. The collision allegedly pushed the pickup truck forward, causing it to strike the back of the Cadillac. The Sierra then reportedly veered right, jumped the end of a raised median that separates the north and southbound lanes of Lee Trevino, and collided with a southbound Toyota Tundra which had been in the right turn only lane.
Carillo and the other woman who had been in the Challenger incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. The 31-year-old man from the Sierra and the 65-year-old man from the Ford both apparently sustained minor injuries, as well. All four were transported to various medical facilities by EMS.
El Paso, TX — January 28, 2024, three people were injured in a car accident at approximately 2:15 a.m. along Gateway East.
According to authorities, the accident occurred on Gateway East at the Albert Saab Drive intersection.

The causal factors that led to the cash are still unclear. Officials indicate that the number of vehicles involved in the incident is unknown. It has been confirmed, however, that two of the victims incurred reportedly severe injuries due to the wreck, while a third victim sustained suspected minor injuries. All three were taken to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time have not been reported on. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point. The investigation is currently ongoing.
