2 Injured in Dual Truck Accident on Highway 4 in Campbell, NE
Campbell, NE — October 2, 2024, two people were injured following a dual truck accident at around 1:00 p.m. along Highway 4.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened in the area of Highway 4 and 43 Road.

According to officials, a Freightliner semi-truck was going westbound along Highway 4 at the time while a Peterbilt semi-truck was reportedly going onto eastbound Highway 4 from 43 Road. In doing so, the two trucks collided. As a result of the crash, both truck drivers were injured. No further information is available at this time.
While additional details aren't clear right now, reports saying one of the trucks was coming "from 43 Road" is concerning. The most up-to-date images of this intersection I can find show that 43 road has a stop sign. So was this all due to a commercial truck failing to yield? If it was, folks might think that would make things open and shut. But experienced truckers likely know as well as I do that commercial truck wrecks are almost never simple or straight-forward.
A big reason for that is due to the employers often involved in these serious wrecks. It's possible for something like this to just be the result of a reckless individual driver. However, employers often create environments that make accidents inevitable. They may expect drivers to cut corners so they can meet unreasonable deadlines. They may constantly distract drivers over comms. Some companies hire inexperienced drivers or drivers with a history of reckless driving. Could it be something like that happened here?
