Child Killed, Several Injured in Multi-vehicle Truck Accident on U.S. 60 in Tempe, AZ
Tempe, AZ — February 12, 2024, a child was killed and several people were injured in a multi-vehicle truck accident at around 8:00 a.m. along U.S. 60.
According to authorities, an SUV was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 60 in the vicinity of Rural Road when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that the SUV allegedly made a lane change that resulted in a chain reaction of collisions involving a total eight vehicles, one of which was a pickup truck hauling a flat bed trailer, and another of which was a dump truck. During the accident, a pickup hauling a trailer reportedly veered through the median and into the eastbound lanes of the highway before overturning.
The number of victims who were injured as a result of this incident is unclear; however, reports state that two of the people transported to the hospital by EMS in order to receive treatment were children. One of those children reportedly succumbed to their injuries, having later been declared deceased.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
