I get calls all the time from folks about single-vehicle wrecks like this. The challenge is that they're not always seen as a high priority. Authorities have other responsibilities to work on, and supervisors may pull officers off an accident reconstruction before they've really had a chance to get answers. This can put officers in the uncomfortable spot of either giving an incomplete investigation or jumping to conclusions, which risks blaming someone for something they had no control over. Generally speaking, that's why these wrecks tend to fare better in the hands of independent investigators who can dedicate the time and tools needed to investigate even unlikely possible factors. Otherwise, victims and families affected by accidents like this may be left looking for answers to questions no one is taking the time to ask.
