2 Injured in Lumber Truck Accident on Carthage Street in Cameron, NC
Cameron, NC —October 23, 2023, a man was injured in a lumber truck accident in the morning at a railroad crossing along Carthage Street.
According to reports, the lumber came unstrapped and began falling off the flatbed trailer of the truck as it was passing the railroad crossing. A pickup truck carrying two people was traveling in the opposite direction of the lumber truck, heading toward the railroad crossing.
The pickup truck did swerve right in an attempt to avoid the falling lumber. A large amount of the lumber piled up against the driver's side of the pickup, causing damage to the driver's side and the windshield of the vehicle. Authorities state that both the driver and the passenger of the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital by emergency medical services.
It is still unknown as to why the lumber came unstrapped. The incident is under investigation by authorities. The condition of the victims is unknown at this time. No further details are available at this point.
