Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A lot of people will see a crash involving a teenage driver and immediately assume the worst. It is true that teenagers are statistically more likely to make mistakes behind the wheel. For an individual accident, though, it's up to the evidence to say what happened.
It would surprise folks how often authorities just went with their gut instead of digging into the actual facts surrounding an accident. Hopefully officials here have been more thorough than that, but a lot of families still end up feeling more comfortable having independent investigators look things over to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
