Jose Correa Killed in Work Accident in Houston, TX
Houston, TX — February 28, 2025, Jose Correa was killed following a work accident at around 9:00 a.m. along Beaumont Highway.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration released preliminary information about the accident, saying it happened just off Oates Road.
According to OSHA, 49-year-old Jose Correa was working with a forklift at the time. In events unconfirmed, the forklift rolled over Jose Correa, leading to a head injury. Jose Correa died as a result.
In their report, OSHA listed eight alleged violation citations, several of which were "serious." OSHA issued a recommended penalty. At this time, further information is unavailable.

People often look at fatal work accidents and think OSHA is the beginning and end of the situation. The reality is I've been working with families for over 30 years who found that OSHA would go through their whole process without ever even contacting them. At the end of the day, authorities have their own priorities. Those don't necessarily align with the needs of worker's loved ones following a deadly work accident. That means they have to seek out alternative paths to navigate Texas work fatality laws and get a proper resolution. So even though there were apparently multiple alleged rule violations found after this accident, that's likely just the tip of the iceberg. It usually takes a lot more than that to see families get fair resolutions.
