Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Following crashes like this, it's important for victims and families to know what authorities are and are not looking into. They deserve to know all possibilities are getting the attention they need—even if they may seem unlikely.
For example, I rarely see potential vehicle defects get the attention they deserve. Tire failure, brake issues, faulty seatbelts, electrical systems, lane assistance and other automatic driving features—these things can unexpectedly cause drivers to lose control. It can take dedicated professionals a lot of time, tools, and effort to pin that kind of thing down, and that isn't something authorities typically do on their own.
So while I certainly don't know what happened here, someone losing their life is enough to warrant a follow up with the authorities to make sure they have the right people looking into things.
