4 Injured in ACU Bus Accident on Marsha Sharp in Lubbock, TX
Lubbock, TX — August 31, 2024, four people were injured following an alleged DWI accident involving an ACU bus at 11:45 p.m. along Marsha Sharp.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened at the intersection of the U.S. 82 service and University Avenue.

According to officials, an Abilene Christian University football team bus was traveling through the intersection following a game at the Texas Tech stadium. As the bus crossed, it's reported that a 19-year-old crashed into the bus, which caused the bus to collide with a third vehicle. As a result, four people had injuries described as non-serious.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities allege that the 19-year-old driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident and would face a charge for DWI. If that's true, though, those might not be the only charges that ultimately stem from this crash. Simply put, if alcohol was the intoxicant, then there could be someone out there responsible for unlawfully providing alcohol to the intoxicated driver.
The question, though, is whether the alcohol came from some individual or from a local establishment. Holding an older acquaintance or family member accountable would be important, of course. But I've handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers. The reality is that when they're unlawfully serving alcohol, it's rarely a one-off fluke. It's more often a pattern of reckless business practices that puts the community in danger until someone sets them straight. That's why I have to wonder if authorities have looked beyond the crash scene here to ensure there is full accountability for the mistakes that ultimately led to this accident.
