Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I have to wonder if authorities ever considered why the injuries were so serious here (if the reports were accurate). Did they inspect the vehicle for potential defects? While not exactly common, issues with seatbelts, airbags, vehicle construction, and even a seat can result in otherwise avoidable serious injuries. This requires careful inspections which authorities aren't always equipped or motivated to do themselves. Were they more thorough here to rule out the possibility of a defect?
