Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
What makes shootings like this particularly complex is that the investigations may not be limited to the shooter alone. Anytime violence occurs at an establishment, there must also be an investigation into how often this sort of thing happens. While not all incidents like this can be foreseen or prevented, some establishments have a proven history of violence which improvements to security could help address. That's why investigations here may need to consider both who fired the shots as well as whether any steps could have been taken to keep people at this business safe.
