Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
After a serious car accident like this, it's important to know how authorities handled the investigations. It can surprise people when authorities don't immediately work to get all the answers. However, not all departments prioritize accident reconstruction equally. This can leave officers without the time and tools they need to do their job properly. That's when officers might jump to conclusions or move on without really doing a complete investigation.
It can help victims and families to follow up early on with authorities. If they go to the police with their concerns and questions, and authorities can adequately address everything, that's a sign they did good investigations. But if the responses come up short and it seems there's still a lot more to the story, there may need to be a secondary independent accident reconstruction to bring all the facts to light.
