Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It sometimes surprises people to see so little information from an organization like OSHA. It might also surprise people to learn that sometimes, this is all workers' families get to see, as well.
The fact of the matter is OSHA does not exist to do exhaustive investigations meant to give families the answers they need. Their job is to look for violations and recommend fines. This often leaves families in a position where if they want a proper resolution, they have to have independent investigators do their own look into the facts.
Sometimes, that will ultimately just confirm everything authorities already know. A lot of the time, though, it helps bring new information to light so the victim's loved ones can get the full story.
