If these claims are accurate, people might think this is all open-and-shut. In reality, any crash involving a commercial vehicle accident is going to present unique challenges. After all, any experienced trucker can attest to the fact that when a driver makes a mistake, it can be a sign that the driver's employer is creating a dangerous work environment.
I've handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases. Many times, a truck driver's mistake was the result of conditions related to their work. Supervisors hounding them over the phone, demanding rushed and unrealistic delivery schedules, forcing drivers to work long hours, failing to maintain trucks in need of repair, rushing inexperienced drivers through training, etc.
This behavior paves the way for serious accidents to occur, which means accountability has to extend beyond the crash scene. Either authorities are making sure to be thorough in their investigations, or there will have to be more thorough independent investigations.
