Commentary
As open-and-shut as these details may seem, there's a concerning detail which I wonder if authorities looked into. It appears only one person was seriously injured here. Was that a reasonable outcome, or should the victim have been okay like the others involved here?
While not all that common, vehicle defects sometimes lead to people being more seriously hurt than they should have been. Faulty airbags, seatbelt failure, vehicles not built to modern standards, seat assemblies breaking—this can result in people being hurt when others in similar vehicles would have been okay.
This sort of factor takes careful inspections to uncover—careful inspections I rarely see authorities do on their own. Ultimately, it's possible nothing at all unusual contributed to this accident. However, it should be up to the evidence to say that for sure.
