Holly Jackson, Joseph Urias Injured in Car Accident in Midland, TX
Midland, TX — December 25, 2025, Holly Jackson and Joseph Urias were injured following a car accident at around 12:43 a.m. along Big Spring Street.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the intersection of Big Spring Street and Scharbauer Drive.
Investigators said that 59-year-old Joseph Urias and 48-year-old Holly Jackson were passengers in a Jeep Grand Cherokee going southbound on Big Spring. A Nissan Rogue reportedly was driving the wrong-way when it crashed with the Jeep.
Due to the collision, Holly Jackson reportedly was seriously injured. Joseph Urias and others in the Jeep had unspecified injuries.
Authorities allege that the Nissan driver was under the influence of alcohol. It's unclear if charges have been filed.

If it's true that alcohol led to this crash, people might think that charges against the alleged drunk driver would be the beginning and end of the story. In Texas, though, alcohol providers are often responsible for contributing to serious accidents, as well.
Simply put, if a bar, restaurant, or similar venue over-serves someone that is obviously intoxicated, the establishment can be held accountable when that intoxication leads to harm. Not only is this an avenue for victims and families to see consequences for those who wronged them, but it's also a path to get those negligent alcohol providers to clean up their act before more people get hurt.
Too often, though, negligent alcohol providers fly under the radar. I've handled hundreds of alcohol-related accident cases, and authorities tend to focus all of their efforts on the drunk drivers. As such, it might take more thorough independent investigations to find out what all led to this crash and who all needs to face consequences.
