Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With the criminal proceedings here nearing a conclusion, I'm curious whether the victim's loved ones ever got the full story of what all led to the crash. Authorities don't always conduct thorough enough investigations on their own, since their priority is looking to file charges. There could be factors beyond the scope of that investigation which a family would still want to know.
For example, original allegations were that the car driver here left the scene. Why is that? A lot of the time, there's something specific that driver wants to hide. Was the driver drunk? On drugs? Did they have warrants?
Put simply, I've been handling deadly car accident cases for over thirty years. Families don't just want some bad guy to blame or an easy explanation. They want to know they're getting the whole story. Did that ever happen here?
