White Plains, NY — April 21, 2025, Stacie Baumgartner was killed as the result of a truck accident that happened around 1:05 p.m. along North Broadway.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened off the corner of North Broadway and Cemetery Road/Orchard Street.

Investigators said that that 53-year-old Stacie Baumgartner was on foot at the time. While going south, it appears a truck also going southbound hit Baumgartner. The truck was reportedly turning right off of Broadway when the collision happened.

Due to the collision, Stacie Baumgartner was killed. Authorities did not report any charges. No further information about the accident is available right now.

Looking at this intersection, there appear to be clear road markings, traffic signals, and signage. I have to wonder how it was that the driver involved here wasn't able to see and avoid the pedestrian. To be clear, there could be a reasonable explanation the driver had no control over, but it could instead be that inattention or other negligent behavior led to the collision.

One thing I wonder is if authorities have looked for any camera footage. It could be that there's a traffic camera at this crossing, or perhaps a nearby residence has a security camera with a view of the road. While that may seem like an obvious detail authorities would look into, I've had cases where they never bothered looking at the surrounding area for video footage. That could be a significant breakthrough in finding out what went wrong here and how it all could been avoided.
