Midland County, TX — November 6, 2025, Luis Cardenas De La Cruz was killed as the result of a truck accident at around 1:02 p.m. along Highway 349.

But even if the allegations are true, there's often more to these stories than just a truck driver making an isolated mistake. I've handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases. Usually, there are serious issues happening behind the scenes that need to be brought to light.

Something that I rarely see authorities look into is why a mistake like failure to yield happens. It could be that the driver just a lapse in judgment. However, it's also possible they were rushing to meet an unreasonable deadline. Maybe they're an inexperienced driver with poor training. They might have a history of reckless behavior their employer overlooks. Perhaps they were tired due to long hours behind the wheel.
