Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If it's true that alcohol led to this crash, the investigations may not be as open-and-shut as people might think. It's not just about charging the alleged drunk driver. It's also about answering a key questions: Where did the alcohol come from?
In Texas, alcohol providers, such as bars and restaurants, can be responsible for over-serving people who are obviously intoxicated. If they do so, and people get hurt, they can face consequences just as drunk drivers can. But if the investigations begin and end at the crash scene, that isn't likely to happen.
So, were authorities able to dig into all of the factors leading to this accident? Or, is there still more to this story?
