Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Police suggested the victim may have fallen asleep at the wheel, but this can't be confirmed right now. Do they have evidence they haven't released to the public, or are they just guessing?
It would surprise folks to see how many times an investigation into a crash like this can show police simply jumped to conclusions and didn't actually take the time to consider other possible factors. Mechanical issues, for example, aren't quite as common as things like fatigue or distracted driving. But does it happen? Of course. Without the right investigations, though, it can easily slip through the cracks. Understanding some of these possibilities, however likely they may be, could be a vital step toward ensuring this man's loved ones are getting the answers they deserve.
